Mountain Races
Taking place on the Saturday (24 Sept) the 2nd Commonwealth Mountain Running Championships will go ahead in the famous mountain-running village of Llanberis.
The route for the 2011 events will start in Llanberis, take in Moel Eilio - on a classic route to the peak of this often wind-swept giant - in the shadow of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. Returning to Llanberis high street for what should a big crowd and a great atmosphere!
Racing will get underway at 12pm with Open Mountain Race for men & women. The Commonwealth Championship races will start with the women’s 8km up and down race at 2pm, followed closely by the Home Countries Championship mountain race for boys & girls under 16 years old.
At 3pm the Commonwealth Championship for men will start, covering a tough 12km route, up and down Moel Eilio and linked ridges, with Home Countries Championship Mountain Race for boys & girls under 18 years old the last race of the day to go off shortly after.
