Katie has been a regular on the international running circuit. She has been representing England since she was 15.
She received her first Great Britain vest as a Senior in 2008. She has also represented North of England at Cross Country and 10 km.
Katie has earned a lot of accolades over her running career. She has been the U14, U16, U18 and U20 English Fell Running Champion. Her highest European placing in Mountain running is 9th in the 2008 up and downhill and 2009 uphill only Mountain Running Championships.
Her highest World Mountain Running Championship placing is 7th at the 2009 up and downhill Championship.
Katie is setting her eyes on competitive triathlon. As part of her commitment to the TriGold programme, she will work as a Sporting Ambassador for the Foundation to visit schools and sport clubs in her local area and inspire youth to get involved in sport.
Her future goals include to make it to the 2012 Olympics as a triathlete. 2010 will be her first season competing as a triathlete in the sport. She will continue to run races but has the ultimate goal of making a top international triathlete.
Views on the Commonwealth Championships…
Nadeem Khan (NK): What were your thoughts on running in the Commonwealth Championships?
Katie Ingram (KI): I thoroughly enjoyed myself; it was such a privilege to be representing England at the first mountain championship commonwealth event and on home territory made it even more exciting. It was great to see so many countries taking part and I hope that the event continues to develop as it is a huge boost for the profile of mountain running.
NK: How was this race different from your other international races?
KI: I was able to have all the support of my coach, boyfriend and family at the races which really helped to spur me on-especially on the second race! It was also really special for me as I managed to medal at both races, the first time I have ever medalled as a senior at international mountain running.
NK: The one thing that you will remember about these Championships…
KI: Crossing the line in first place what an amazing feeling!

NK: What is your typical training week?
KI: Monday: am: easy 30mins run pm: steady 45mins run
Tuesday: track session (typical session of 16x400m)
Wednesday: easy 30-40mins run pm: steady 30-45mins run + gym work
Thursday: hill reps (varying hill length efforts)
Saturday: tempo run or race
Sunday: 10-12mile steady run
+ I always get massage once a week and carry out core stability and body strength exercises 3 times per week.
NK: Your biggest supporter in your running career….
KI: My coach Norman Matthews and partner Sam.
NK: Who is your first call after a major race?
KI: Usually Norman and Sam are at my races so my parents.
